Statins And Rhabdomyolysis. We present an interesting case report on statin induced rhabdomyolysis with renal failure. 10 168 cases were fatal and 18 168 and 57 168 cases occurred during the first month and first trimester of treatment respectively. Statins a group of drugs used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia have adverse effects on skeletal muscle. Achilles tenosynovitis can occur in people with fh and initial statin treatment.

However in individuals without rare rhabdomyolysis statins do not cause acute renal injury or worsen proteinuria long term. The number of patients currently taking statins is estimated to be several millions worldwide. The patient often has severe muscle pain stiffness and weakness with constitutional symptoms of fever and malaise.
